Objective language

Human beings, animals and maybe even plants, are able to communicate with one another with different kinds of languages. These languages can be sound, text, movement, touch, and maybe even other unfamiliar ways. These languages are a set of tools for communication and messages transferring between different individuals. They can only exist because they are common and acceptable by different individuals from the same group, Speices, kind. therefor, this is objective. In some cases, the objective language is transformed into a different medium - as the musical notes transform into sound or the recipe transform into a dish. The transformation will appear in a different way with every performer. In this project, I wanted to examine the transformation of the Italian language of gestures into material, creating a new form of communication.

A new way to create an unfamiliar object by using a familiar and objective language.

WHAT?

Using Italian gestures as a movement that creates manipulation in the material.

WHY?

Gestures are used as an objective language with a subjective appearance. In different copy-paste-processes, there is a medium transformation - the transformation from a recipe - written text, to a food dish,  or from musical notes into instrumental sound. In the project, I wanted to examine how this transformation appears when copying movement into material.

HOW?

using the book "Supplement to the Italian dictionary" by Bruno Munari (1963) as a dictionary of movement, following the instruction in order to create an object which reflects that gesture in shape and material.
